Punch and shear operations for flats, rounds, and squares.

Tampa Bay Steel has the equipment for all of your metals processing needs, including iron workers that handle flats, rounds and squares. When you need an iron worker for punch, shear or notch operations, our 165 ton GEKA and our 110 ton Piranha have the processing power to get the job done.
These iron workers are versatile enough to handle a wide range of punch sizes and tremendous force capacity. Punch and shear operations can be carried out independently by two operators on the same iron worker machine. We can handle your pipe notching, plate and angle work, and hole punching in channel and pipe.
Punching simply removes a slug from the workpiece as the punch enters a punching die. Multiple punches can be accomplished simultaneously to complete a part in one operation. Shearing makes straight line cuts as an upper blade and lower blade are forced past each other. Many geometric shapes can be produced in sheet and plate using the shearing process. Very small lengths of metal can be sheared as the blades of the ironworker can be directed at an angle, reducing the amount of force required to make the cut. Notching uses a shearing process to remove a piece of scrap from the outside edge to form a specified shape.
Our machines are manufactured by leading companies in iron worker production. They are built with efficient design and superb engineering to assure your parts are fabricated to specification and on time.
