History

Tampa Bay Steel Corporation is the result of the life-long goals and the earnest prayers of Buck and Eleanor McInnis. The company was founded by them in 1980, incorporated in Hillsborough County, Florida. TBSC has enjoyed the continual blessing of success since its inception. This has always seemed to flow naturally from practicing Christian principles, stressing service to customers and working hard.

TBSC’s original office was a 13-foot by 13-foot den in the McInnis home, equipped with a card table, filing cabinet and telephone. Soon, the facility moved to Sabal Industrial Park. Warehouse space consisted of 10,000 square feet of inside warehouse storage, two acres of outside storage, and a small trailer housing the office. In the beginning, there were five employees.

On March 31, 1983, Tampa Bay Steel Corporation purchased the Tampa Service Center from Florida Steel Corporation. At that time, the two service centers merged and began to enjoy even greater success. The company now has approximately 220,000 square feet of warehouse space, 4,000 square feet of office space, eight acres of outside storage and a rail siding.

As a result of an acquisition in September 1996, TBSC began stocking non-ferrous products, broadening the scope of our capabilities for customers.
